Why Gender Studies? So much of my work has to
do with gender. My MFA thesis at Rochester Institute of Technology was focused
on my desire for our society to escape these gender roles. Much of my work in
this subject matter has been self-portraiture, because I had been trying to
understand my role in American society during the late 20th century.
